2025年8月、ロンドンで開催された「DOUJIN CON LONDON」にサークル参加してきました。ロンドンで同人誌に焦点をあてたイベントは初開催らしく、記念すべき第一回目に参加できてうれしかったです！
In August 2025, we participated as a circle at DOUJIN CON LONDON, held in London.
It was apparently the very first event in London focused on doujinshi, and we’re so happy to have been part of this memorable first edition!
A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our table, bought our books and merch, and chatted with us about all things otaku! Big thanks also to the organizers and staff for the amazing support and for putting together such a fantastic event.
会場はハマスミのノボテルホテルに併設されたカンファレンスルーム。
スタートのアナウンスは特になく、気づけば会場に人が入り始めてぬるりとイベントが始まりました。日本語が話せるスタッフの方がいてサポート関係もばっちりでした！
会場内にも日本人出展者もちらほら見かけましたが、主にローカルの同人作家さんが多かった印象です。日本から委託しているテーブルもあって、たくさんの同人誌を見ることができました…！
会場には日本大使館による漫画展示、ステージ、お絵描きコーナーもあり、全体的に“平成のオールジャンルイベント”を彷彿とさせるようなアットホームな雰囲気でした！商業色よりも手作り感とうか、来場者もサークルもスタッフも全員でイベントを作り上げていく懐かしい感じがありました。
The venue was a conference room attached to the Novotel Hotel in Hammersmith.
There was no official start announcement, but before we knew it, people began to enter the venue and the event quietly got underway. There was a staff member who spoke Japanese, so the support was excellent!
We spotted a few Japanese exhibitors inside, but the majority seemed to be local doujin creators. There was also a table with consignments from Japan, so we got to see a wide variety of doujinshi…!
The venue featured a manga exhibition by the Japanese Embassy, a stage, and a drawing corner, creating an overall warm, homey atmosphere reminiscent of a “Heisei-era all-genre doujin event.” Rather than a commercial vibe, it felt very handmade, with visitors, circles, and staff all working together to create the event — a nostalgic feeling of community.
出展作品は同人誌・イラストボード・ステッカー・アクキー・アパレル・原画など多岐にわたりジャンルもバラバラ。覇権ジャンルがない分、どのブースも均等ににぎわっていた印象です。
私たちは在英組＋日本組で合同誌、個人でグッズ、合同ペーパーを作りました。多くの人に作品を手に取ってもらえて大感謝…！
スペースに来て下さったローカルの方々と話した際に「ほかのイベントだと二次創作は仕方ないとはいえ肩身狭いし、こういうイベントがあってよかった！」という声を多数聞きました。スコットランドや北イングランドなどロンドン以外から来られた方もかなり多かったです。
主催者さんもスタッフさんも初めての開催で大変だったと思いますが、とても楽しい時間を過ごすことが出来ました。第二回目の開催が実現しますように…！
The exhibited works ranged widely, including doujinshi, illustration boards, stickers, acrylic keychains, apparel, and original artwork, covering various genres. Since there wasn’t a dominant genre, every booth seemed equally lively and bustling.
We created a collaborative magazine featuring contributors both from the UK and Japan, as well as individual merchandise and a joint flyer. We’re truly grateful that so many people picked up our works!
When talking with local visitors who came to our space, many said things like, “At other events, although secondary creations are unavoidable, we often feel unwelcome, so it’s great to have an event like this!” There were quite a few attendees who traveled from outside London, including Scotland and Northern England.
I’m sure it was challenging for the organizers and staff to hold the event for the first time, but we had a really enjoyable time. We sincerely hope there will be a second edition!
